They had to ask for the spirit first, secondly they had to COME TO KNOW CHRIST (or act ) through the spirit
in order to receive the spirit, then they were told to do two things first,
love one another as I have loved you. Christ showed his apostles his
love by washing their feet. In their culture the washing of the feet
was the highest sign of respect and love for one anther, Christ the
master washing their feet was a witness of his love and friendship
towards them. (Now the fun part ) they had to ACT and share that same
amount of love with everyone around them "love thy neighbor as thyself." Secondly they were asked to keep the commandments. They were then given
the promise that as they did these things the Lord would be with them.
"For I the Lord am bound when ye do what I say but when ye do not what I
say ye have no promise! I know that as we come to know Christ he will
always provide us the way, I know that as we do these things we will be
blessed with 1. the spirit to always lead and guide us 2. Christlike
love and 3. a greater relationship with the son Jesus Christ and as you
develop a relationship through Christ you gain a relationship with our Heavenly Father! I testify that as we follow these steps and ask act
and obey we will begin to truly understand God's love and plan for us in
our own lives as well as his love for all those around us.
Tthis week has been very unique. I have really been pondering on what I can do to become a consecrated missionary and eventually become the man that God wants me to be. I found that the main thing I can do is work, work on every aspect of becoming Christ like and just flat out work, my family's saying has always been "there's nothing without work" and Ive really been considering this in my life and how it applies, I'm so grateful for my trainer and his love for work and the people we work with. He has been an amazing example to me of what the word dedicated means, he truly puts all his heart into everything he does.
Thanks for everything you do and your amazing example to me and all your wisdom I will truly work on becoming wise
Love,
Elder Henrie
